Background
Paul and New Life Crisis came to theMechanism four years ago with 26 songs they wanted to sell online to their fans. After being signed by Tommy Boy Records and receiving international radio play for their hit “Daylight,” New Life Crisis found themselves without a label when Tommy Boy was bought by another company. theMechanism set up the 26 songs as downloadable, low-cost MP3’s on their website, each with a unique cover (downloaded as a .pdf file) featuring original artwork and lyrics. (Considering this was in 2001, theMechanism was a bit ahead of its time.)
Solution
Four years later, and theMechanism and New Life Crisis are still working together. The latest fruits of our labor include a CD/DVD package design, poster and identity for the band. All of the photographs used within the CD package design are original photos, taken by various members of theMechanism. Partners Chris Gavin and Dave Fletcher also shot a short documentary on the band in Coney Island, NY, which is included on the DVD.
Paul Mahos and New Life Crisis are currently filming and producing a reality-based television show called “30 Days ‘till I’m Famous” in Costa Rica and have a track featured on the MTV television series, “Laguna Beach.”
It’s nice to see a happy ending for a band now and again, isn’t it?
